THE new 4000 Twenty Series compact tractors from John Deere won the AE50 Award from Resource: Engineering & Technology for a Sustainable World, a publication of the American Society of Agricultural Engineers. The award recognizes the best new products released the previous year that are engineered for agriculture, food, biological, and related systems.

The 4000 Twenty series was recognized because of its increased power density and ease of use in a smaller tractor. These tractors feature an advanced programmable instrument panel that controls the engine, transmission, and vehicle features, eliminating the need for special diagnostic equipment. The tractors also have patented "smart" controls that prevent stalling and improve handling and acceleration/deceleration.
