McCormick unveils new "home grown" tractor series
Author: Diesel Progress North American Edition

McCormick International USA, Pella, Iowa, has introduced its first "home grown" tractor series since it was formed under its parent company, ARGO Group, in 2001. The new ZTX series tractors range from 230 to 280 hp and are the largest in the company's product line. Applications for the tractors include heavy tillage, planting and harvesting.

The ZTX series is the new flagship for McCormick, which was reborn when ARGO bought the McCormick brand and utility tractor line from CNH Global. CNH had to divest several tractor lines as part of the Case-New Holland merger. These included a range of 70 to 150 hp tractor models, of which its C, CX, MXC and MX Maxxum series were acquired by McCormick.

"We bought those product lines to start our business ranging from 70 to 150 hp," explained Chad Huyser, marketing manager for McCormick. "That's really been our core line. Since that time we have rounded out the product both up and down on the horsepower scale.

"The ZTX has been the first tractor that was truly designed from the ground up as a McCormick tractor with our engineering group. I think we are seeing a lot of large scale producers moving into this size tractor range--the 200 to 250 hp range--simply because it's a flexible piece of equipment."
