Steiger Marks 50,000th Tractor Author: Cotton Grower
Nearly fifty years after the first one was built, the 50,000th Steiger tractor rolled off the line in January.
The occasion was celebrated at a case IH manufacturing facility in Fargo, ND, as the keys to the STX500 were handed over to owners David and Mark Yaggie, whose family had purchased one of the original models.
Steiger tractors date to 1957 when John Steiger and his sons built a tractor for their Red Lake Falls, MN, farm.
The Steigers built more than 100 tractors in their own shop before opening manufacturing facilities in Fargo in 1969. Steiger was purchased by a predecessor company to CNH, Case IH's parent company, in 1986.
"The fact that the Steiger brand grew out of an idea from a family in Minnesota who dreamed of a better way to farm, into a brand that today delivers exceptional performance and value to its loyal customers, is something that's truly noteworthy," said Erik Olson, general plant manager of the Fargo facility.
