Tractor Supply signs 2 leases Author: La Crosse Tribune
Tractor Supply Co. plans to open stores this summer in former WalMart discount stores in Viroqua and Prairie du Chien, Wis., and also is interested in opening one in Tomah. Wis., a company spokeswoman said Thursday.
"We have two signed leases, for the locations in Viroqua and Prairie du Chien," said Susan Morgenstern, spokeswoman for the Nashville, Tenn.-based farm and ranch supplies retailer.
The Viroqua store is expected to open June 23, and the Prairie du Chien store on July 14, she said.
"Those dates can vary depending on what happens during the construction phase," she said.
Tractor Supply will occupy the entire former Wal-Mart building in Viroqua, but only part of the former Wal-Mart in Prairie du Chien, she said. The Viroqua location also will serve as a "training store" for new management personnel.
"We don't have a signed lease yet in Tomah, but we are interested" in that community, Morgenstern said.
Tomah Mayor Chuck Ludeking said Thursday that Tractor Supply has obtained a building permit for remodeling at the former Wal-Mart store in Tomah. He did not know if construction work has begun.
