Tractor designed for efficiency in either direction - New Holland's new bidirectional tractor model
Author: Diesel Progress North American Edition

New Holland has introduced a new bidirectional tractor model designed for agricultural fieldwork, loader work and municipal applications. The model TV140 tractor, designed to replace the model 9030, is capable of being operated from either the engine end or cab end, allowing the operator to face either direction and tackle the work head on.

"The TV140 four-wheel drive bidirectional tractor has been totally redesigned," said John Hundley, product marketing manager for new Holland. "The bidirectional tractor is a well accepted concept, but we wanted to improve it, so we asked bidirectional tractor owners, as well as customers who had never driven one to tell us what they wanted. Our product design team incorporated their suggestions in the design of.the TV 140."

The most visible change according to Hundley is the new modem shape of the TV140, which matches the New Holland family look of the Genesis, Gemini and Boomer tractors. The sleek design, which features a sloped engine hood, is designed to provide excellent visibility when using front-end attachments, as well as provide easy access to service areas by means of the flip-up hood.

Other visible changes include the cab, which has been completely redesigned for greater comfort and convenience in either operating direction. The exclusive Turnabout console, which houses the primary tractor controls, rotates with the seat so the tractor can be operated cabend first or engine end first. The cab was also designed with a large glass area for increased visibility - an operator facing to the rear can see straight to the drawbar.
