Invented by the Vermeer company in 1972, round balers are towed tractor attachments that compress hay, straw and other material into convenient round-shaped bales. When a bale is ready within this belt-driven mechanism, a hatch opens and the bale rolls out.

Round bales have become a standard for feeding large quantities of grazing animals. They are traditionally placed within a ring feeder so that the bales maintain their position as they are being grazed.

Round balers continue to be best sellers for usage in larger farming operations, creating round bales that reach up to 72" in diameter and weighing up to 2,200 pounds.

Transportation of an individual round bale, using a tractor, will require a bale spear or grapple fork attachment. Multiple round bales will need to be transported with a saddle wagon or flatbed truck with guardrails.
