Here’s an important message for current or prospective owners of used Kubota tractors, specifically of the B, F, L, M & ZD series — Kubota has a program for the installation of a rollover protective structures (ROPS) kit that is retro-fitted within specific older models of Kubota agricultural and compact tractors.
The intention of this ROPS kit is to prevent common roll-over accidents that are due as a result of speeding, improper usage on certain terrain, improper ballast or other operator mistakes. The kit will limit your tractor’s side overturn to 90-degrees and provide a “safety zone” for the operator.
It includes two main components: 1) the structure itself, which attaches to the tractor frame and comes in a fixed or foldable 2-post, a 4-post, or a cab version, and 2) a seat belt mechanism.
Kubota tractors manufactured before 1985 did not include a standard ROPS. The specific models that do not include them are:
- B-Series: B5100, B6000, B7100, B5200, B6100, B6200, B7200, B8200, B9200
- F-Series: F200, F2100, F2400, GF1800
- L-Series: L175, L185, L200, L210, L225, L235, L245, L260, L275, L285, L295, L305, L345, L355, L2250, L2550, L2850, L3350, L3750, L4150
- M-Series: M4000, M4050, M4500, M5500, M7500
- ZD-Series: ZD18, ZD21
If you own or plan to purchase any of these older Kubota tractors, be sure to contact your local Kubota dealership for a price quote to fit your tractor with a ROPS. The general price range is around $150-$320, depending on the model.
